PELVIC PAIN & ORGAN PROLAPSE

Pain experienced in the lower abdomen, rectum, penis, scrotum or vagina is not an uncommon problem for many people. This pain may be experienced during sexual activities, menstruation, exercise, walking, sitting, or at rest.

When the pelvic muscles and tissue become weak, often they are unable to hold your organs in place correctly. This leads to a feeling of bulging, heaviness or aching in the vagina, lower abdomen or rectal area. Often people can actually see their bladder, uterus or rectum bulging out of their vagina or rectum.

PREGNANCY AND POSTPARTUM

A woman’s body experiences many changes during pregnancy. Discomfort is common, however high levels of pain before or after pregnancy are not considered normal.

Common conditions treated in prenatal and postnatal patients:

  • Pelvic, tailbone and back pain
  • Nerve entrapments
  • Pain associated with Caesarian section, tearing or episiotomy
  • Weak or separated abdominal muscles
  • Difficulty walking

INCONTINENCE

The unintentional loss of bowel or bladder control

  • Stress Incontinence: Incontinence experienced on exertion such as during exercise, coughing or laughing
  • Urge Incontinence: Incontinence accompanied by or immediately proceeded by a sudden urge to use the bathroom
  • Anal Incontinence: uncontrollable gas

BOWEL DYSFUNCTION

Chronic constipation is a problem that can severely impact one’s quality of life. If left untreated it can lead to other pelvic floor problems such as incontinence, pelvic pain and internal organs becoming displaced. Patients often complain of abdominal discomfort, pressure, and bloating.
